The city
Zurich in brief.
Water decides the shape of Zurich: the lake at one end, the Limmat through the old town, and public bathhouses along both. Summer means swimming at the Seebad Utoquai or the women's bath at Stadthausquai, and in the cold months the Seebad Enge reopens as a sauna on the lake.
Zurich's cultural year hangs on four dates. Sechseläuten burns the Böögg in April; Zurich Art Weekend opens the galleries on the weekend before Art Basel in June; the Street Parade follows the lake basin in August; and the film festival lays its green carpet on Sechseläutenplatz from late September.

- Sechseläuten: the guilds parade through the old town and the Böögg is burned on Sechseläutenplatz.

Galleries at Löwenbräukunst
The former Löwenbräu brewery in Zürich-West houses the Kunsthalle Zürich, the Migros Museum of Contemporary Art and Hauser & Wirth, a regular stop during Zurich Art Weekend each June.
Wellness
Lake baths all year
Seebad Utoquai, built in 1890, and the women's bath at Stadthausquai open for the swimming season, while Seebad Enge turns to sauna sessions on the lake in the colder months.

Guild house dining
Guild houses along the Limmat and around Münsterhof now serve as restaurants, among them Zunfthaus zur Waag, known for Zürcher Geschnetzeltes, sliced veal in a cream and white wine sauce.
Sport
Weltklasse at the Letzigrund
Weltklasse Zürich, part of the Wanda Diamond League, brings international track and field to the Letzigrund stadium for a single evening in late August.

Who the city draws
Gallerists and collectors pass through in mid June on their way to Art Basel, film people arrive in late September, and the city's guilds take over the old town each April.
