The city
Milan in brief.
Two industries take their dates from Milan. Salone del Mobile fills the Rho fairground each April while Fuorisalone spreads through Brera, Tortona and Isola, and the women's collections are shown in late February and again in late September.
Opera has its own fixed point: La Scala opens on 7 December, the feast of Sant'Ambrogio, the city's patron. Between those peaks the pull is quieter, towards contemporary art at Fondazione Prada and Pirelli HangarBicocca, an aperitivo in the Galleria, and Formula 1 at nearby Monza in early September.
